FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, Texas – July 9, 2025 — In the wake of the devastating floods that struck the Texas Hill Country over Independence Day weekend, the Texas Farm Credit District, in partnership with CoBank, AgFirst, AgWest, AgSouth, First South, the Federal Farm Credit Banks Funding Corporation, and Farmer Mac, have committed $285,000 to support relief and recovery efforts for those impacted. Farm Credit Bank of Texas and its affiliated associations within the Texas Farm Credit District, spanning Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Texas, collectively contributed $130,000. Relief aid from these institutions will be sent to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund to support the impacted communities and agricultural related needs.

The torrential rains that devastated the Hill Country this past weekend caused the Guadalupe River to surge dramatically—rising more than 26 feet in under an hour—with flash floods sweeping through Kerrville, Hunt, Ingram, Comfort, and surrounding communities. These floods tragically claimed the lives of more than 100 people, including many children, with dozens still missing, including young campers from Camp Mystic.

“Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this devastating event,” said Amie Pala, Chief Executive Officer, Farm Credit Bank of Texas. “We’re proud to join with the broader Farm Credit System in offering support to first responders, families, and local organizations as they work through this incredibly difficult time.”

In addition to the funds provided by the Texas Farm Credit District and other entities, Farm Credit System employees nationwide are also making contributions to the Farm Credit System Employee Relief Fund. The relief fund is a standing program available to all Farm Credit employees experiencing financial hardship due to natural disasters and other catastrophic events.

The Texas Department of Agriculture’s State of Texas Agriculture Relief (STAR) Fund also accepts donations to support farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses recovering from disasters like floods, wildfires, and storms—helping rebuild and restore operations, and cover other agricultural relief expenses.
