Position Summary

The Regional Vice President is responsible for planning, directing, and managing the overall operations of multiple branch offices within the western region of the Alabama Farm Credit territory. Performs a direct role in the analysis, structuring, and monitoring of large and/or complex loans. Has considerable latitude for decision making in the implementation of association goals.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Finance, or related field plus a minimum of ten (10) or more years of experience in agribusiness, lending, credit analysis and/or sales experience with a related financial services or agricultural credit organization required; master’s degree preferred. A minimum of five (5) or more years successful experience in a management role, with a proven ability to effectively lead a team.

Experience with a complex commercial portfolio is a requirement of this Vice President position. Demonstrates sound influence and negotiation skills in responsibilities such as loan pricing, loan terms and conditions. Possesses sound credit analysis skills with the ability to appropriately structure loan packages and proposals. Has thorough knowledge of client needs and the association’s product offerings. Demonstrates agricultural expertise including solid knowledge of multiple agricultural industries.

Job Purpose and Scope

  • Primary responsibility is to establish goals and objectives for the western region and its employees, delegating authority as appropriate to carry out the association’s goals and objective. Manages the loan portfolio pipeline for the region and leads calling efforts for customers and prospects. Hires, motivates, evaluates, and provides for training of branch office employees.
  • Consults with staff on routine loan origination and the analysis, pricing and structuring of credit. Direct and mentor staff in the structuring of large and/or complex loans that may entail higher risk to the Association. These loans exceed a delegated authority level established by management. Monitors credit quality and ratings. Meets with customers and business owners to promote new loans, investigate complaints, and resolve customer service issues.
  • Assists with the compliance with internal controls, credit standards, and standards of conduct for the offices supervised. Ensures that loans in the Regional portfolio are properly risk rated, assigned loss given defaults are correct and performance status assignments are proper. Complies with proper credit administration practices as outlined in association’s policies and procedures. Monitors progress and informs management of the assigned region’s success in meeting association goals.
  • Develop a professional presence within assigned territory through participation in commodity groups and networking with agricultural industry knowledge contacts. Contribute to the Association’s image as the leading ag financial institution.
  • Maintains awareness of agricultural trends and business activity, FCA regulations, and legal obligations. Ensures all operations comply with applicable policies, regulations, and laws. Oversees the preparation of all reports required by association management.
