Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or other related field and/or two (2) or more years direct experience in mortgage banking, preferably in the loan origination or processing of conventional mortgages.
Must be registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry consistent with the requirements of part 610 of FCA’s Regulations and the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (the S.A.F.E. Act).

Job Scope

Markets and originates loans to be sold in a secondary mortgage market. Determines appropriate investor with which to place the mortgage based upon approved investors and available products. Pro-actively sells and delivers customer-focused financial solutions tailored to specific customer needs, by building customer relationships based on added value, knowledge, information, ease and quality service. Recommends or approves loans in assigned territory consistent with Association policies. Develops and manages loan portfolios. Develops and executes marketing and sales plans to achieve Association marketing and financial goals. Attracts new customers and ensure satisfaction and retention of all customers.

Essential Functions

  • Fully understands the needs, goals, and capabilities of each customer, including how to best serve them
  • Provides counsel that leads customers to effectively analyze their operations’ performance and handle pertinent issues
  • Provides solutions that effectively integrate all products and services in a customized package designed to meet the customer’s needs and behaviors
  • Maintains strong working knowledge of all products and how to integrate those into solution based contracts
  • Resolves customer complaints or dissatisfaction, either directly or indirectly
  • Gathers all information necessary for documentation, analysis, disclosure and underwriting loan requests
  • Provides appropriate consumer protection information at the time of the application
  • Sells products and services through well-designed customer/prospect presentations and proposals which provide solutions to identified needs
  • Solicits and builds relationships with non-customer prospects
  • Manages time and personal discipline for effective sales processes through customer contact and sales calls
  • Follows marketing plan directives within budget for promotion of secondary market mortgages in assigned area in order to meet Association mortgage income goals
  • Provides all necessary applicant information to the processing center within 24 hours
  • Prices and locks in loans according to Association guidelines

Skill Requirements

Proficient with Microsoft Office, Desktop Underwriter, and loan originating software; possess a current awareness of the secondary market industry, as well as, economic and housing developments in the region that may impact the housing market; strong communication, negotiating, problem solving and administrative skills; superior time management, organizational and personal management skills; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal customers to facilitate effective and efficient coordination of service delivered to customers or prospective customers; ability to analyze a wide variety of financial information and identify creative solutions.
