Position Summary

Primary responsibility of the Internal Auditor will be to function as a liaison between management, the association’s audit committee, and external audit partners. In this role, the Internal Auditor will function as the primary point of contact to facilitate and monitor all audit engagements entered into by the audit committee. This role will also help in consulting with the CEO and management on control design and overall procedural design. The Internal Auditor will monitor and assist the management team with assembling and completing management responses to various audits completed annually.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline and a minimum of five (5) or more years of experience in public accounting, internal auditing and/or regulatory auditing. Experience in the financial services industry and agriculture knowledge and/or background is desired.

Job Purpose and Scope

  • Reviews reports generated by external auditors for completeness and accuracy.
  • Responsible for working with the audit committee as various external audits are engaged annually including documenting the scope of the audit and validating that each complies.
  • Monitors the framework of audit results, follow up to ensure completeness, and report back to the audit committee.
  • Assists in evaluating fraud risk as component of the potential operational risk within the organization.
  • Evaluates safety and soundness of association control systems and makes recommendation to management. Consults with management to communicate inadequacies in association control systems.
  • Coordinates with external auditors and association staff to avoid unnecessary redundancy of controls while ensuring appropriate control system design, function, and efficiency.
