John Burns Joins Farm Credit Bank of Texas

AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin-based Farm Credit Bank of Texas (FCBT) has hired John Burns as vice president and association relationship manager. Burns is one of three relationship managers who will administer the direct-lending relationship and work as partners on new business development with 22 financing associations in the Tenth Farm Credit District.

Burns, a 23-year veteran of the Farm Credit System, came to Texas from AgFirst Farm Credit Bank in Columbia, S.C., where he was vice president of association relationship lending. He started his Farm Credit career in 1970 at Farmers Production Credit Association in Rolla, Mo. In 1980, he left to work for AgriStor Credit Corporation, a company that finances and leases Harvestore grain- and forage-handling systems.

After five years with AgriStor, Burns returned to Farm Credit as a large-loan specialist in charge of the Troubled Debt Department for Farm Credit of East Central Wisconsin. He later moved to the Farm Credit Bank of St. Louis as director of special credit. In 1994, he joined the Farm Credit Bank of Columbia, now known as AgFirst Farm Credit Bank.

Burns grew up on a dairy farm in southern Missouri. He has a bachelor's degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri and an MBA in finance from Keller School of Management in Milwaukee.
