AUSTIN, Texas
- The Austin-based Farm Credit Bank of Texas (FCBT) has hired John
Burns as vice president and association relationship manager. Burns
is one of three relationship managers who will administer the direct-lending
relationship and work as partners on new business development with
22 financing associations in the Tenth Farm Credit District.
Burns, a 23-year
veteran of the Farm Credit System, came to Texas from AgFirst Farm
Credit Bank in Columbia, S.C., where he was vice president of association
relationship lending. He started his Farm Credit career in 1970
at Farmers Production Credit Association in Rolla, Mo. In 1980,
he left to work for AgriStor Credit Corporation, a company that
finances and leases Harvestore grain- and forage-handling systems.
After five
years with AgriStor, Burns returned to Farm Credit as a large-loan
specialist in charge of the Troubled Debt Department for Farm Credit
of East Central Wisconsin. He later moved to the Farm Credit Bank
of St. Louis as director of special credit. In 1994, he joined the
Farm Credit Bank of Columbia, now known as AgFirst Farm Credit Bank.
Burns grew
up on a dairy farm in southern Missouri. He has a bachelor's degree
in agriculture from the University of Missouri and an MBA in finance
from Keller School of Management in Milwaukee.
