AUSTIN, TX - The Farm Credit Bank of Texas has hired Luis H.M. Requejo as vice president and capital markets officer. He joins the Austin-based bank's new Capital Markets Group, which will develop and service a portfolio of large participation and syndication transactions.

Requejo brings national and international capital markets experience to his new position. Earlier in his career, he spent five years with Cooperativa Agricola de Cotia in São Paulo, Brazil, helping to manage a $200-million soybean and coffee trading division. He also served a one-year internship with the World Bank.

Requejo attended the University of Illinois as a Fulbright Scholar, earning master's degrees in agribusiness and finance and a doctorate in agricultural economics. He received his bachelor's degree in agricultural economics from the University of São Paulo.

The $7.3-billion Farm Credit Bank of Texas is a wholesale lender to 22 rural financing cooperatives in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas.
