AUSTIN, Texas – The Austin-based Farm Credit Bank of Texas has promoted Kyle Pankonien to vice president of corporate affairs, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective Jan.1, 2008. He succeeds retiring general counsel Bill Zimmerman.
In this position, Pankonien will oversee the bank’s corporate governance, regulatory compliance, standard of conduct and records management. He also will be legal advisor to the bank's board of directors and executive committee.
Pankonien has been the bank’s deputy general counsel since 1990. He began his career with the Farm Credit System in 1978, when he joined the Federal Land Bank of Houston’s legal department. A native of Houston, he is a graduate of Southern Methodist University and the University of Texas Law School. He is a Fellow in the Texas Bar Foundation.
The $13.7-billion Farm Credit Bank of Texas provides funding to 20 rural financing cooperatives in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas. The bank is part of the nationwide Farm Credit System, the nation's single largest source of loans for agriculture, agribusiness, rural real estate and country homes.
