AUSTIN, Texas – Joe Crawford of Baileyton, Ala., was recently re-elected to the board of directors of the Farm Credit Bank of Texas. As a director, he helps to oversee and establish policy for the bank, which has combined assets of $12.8 billion.
Crawford owns and operates a cattle farm in southeastern Morgan County. He is a member and former president of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association and a member of the Alabama Farm Bureau and Alabama Farmers Federation. A graduate of the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Crawford worked for eight years as an engineer for the U.S. Air Force and NASA.
Crawford has served on the FCBT board since 1998. In 2006 he was made vice chairman of the bank’s Audit Committee. Previously, he was a director of the FLBA of North Alabama. He also served on the Tenth District Legislative Advisory Committee. Currently, he serves on the board of the Federal Farm Credit Banks Funding Corporation.
The Farm Credit Bank of Texas is the source of funds for 14 Agricultural Credit Associations and six Federal Land Credit Associations in the Tenth Farm Credit District, which includes Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas. The bank is part of the nationwide Farm Credit System, the nation's single largest source of loans for agriculture, agribusiness, rural real estate and country homes.
