New Director Elected to Farm Credit Bank Board

AUSTIN, Texas – Stockholders of the Tenth Farm Credit District recently elected Lester Little of Hallettsville, Texas, and re-elected Jimmy Dodson of Robstown, Texas, to the Farm Credit Bank of Texas (FCBT) Board of Directors. Both men will serve three-year terms, beginning Jan. 1, 2009.

Little owns and operates a farm headquartered in Lavaca County, Texas, with operations in Jackson, Harris, Fort Bend and Brazoria counties. He also offers custom-farming services, primarily focusing on farm reclamation work.

Little currently chairs the Capital Farm Credit Board of Directors and previously served as vice chairman of the Tenth Farm Credit District Stockholders’ Advisory Committee. He also was a member of the district’s Association Business Advisory Committee. Little is a Farm Bureau member, chairman of the Lavaca Exposition Association and board chairman of the Hallettsville Junior Livestock Show. He is a former board member of the Lavaca Central Appraisal District and former chairman of the Hallettsville ISD.

Little will fill the director position held by Kenneth Andrews, who is retiring from the board.

Jimmy Dodson, a farmer, has been a member of the FCBT board of directors since January 2003 and is chairman of the Tenth District Farm Credit Council Board. He is a past chairman of the Texas AgFinance, FCS Board of Directors. Dodson is Texas state co-chairman of American Cotton Producers, a former director of Cotton Incorporated, and former chairman of the Cotton Foundation and the Environmental Task Force of the National Cotton Council.

The FCBT seven-member board also includes Chairman Ralph “Buddy” Cortese of Fort Sumner, N.M.; Vice Chairman Jon “Mike” Garnett of Spearman, Texas; Joe R. Crawford of Baileyton, Ala.; Elizabeth G. “Betty” Flores of Laredo, Texas; and Dr. William F. Staats of Baton Rouge, La.

The board sets policy for the Farm Credit Bank of Texas, which provides funding and services for the Tenth Farm Credit District. With combined assets of $19.7 billion, the Tenth District consists of 19 local lending cooperatives that finance farmers, ranchers, agribusiness, and rural landowners and homeowners in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico and Texas.
