Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Agricultural Economics, or related field; or equivalent experience and five (5) to seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible of agricultural lending, or related banking experience, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory and/or management position.
Job Purpose & Scope:
Manages the overall functions of a small to medium‐sized branch office including credit quality, loan
servicing, business development, and personnel administration. Has considerable latitude for decision
making in the implementation of association goals. Evaluates and services larger, more complex loans.
Develops and manages loan portfolios including loan originations in the trade area served by the association.
Has appreciable latitude for decision making; works under minimum supervision.
Skill Requirements:
Specialized knowledge of banking administration and accounting policies, procedures, reports, guidelines and banking regulations. Specialized knowledge of financial analysis and asset/liability management. General knowledge of accounting/financial systems. Specialized knowledge of accounting/finance principles. Skill in oral and written communication. Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to perform intermediate‐level accounting/financial analyses.
Essential Functions:
- Establishes goals and objectives for the assigned branch office and its employees and delegates authority as appropriate to carry out goals and objectives. Hires, motivates, evaluates and provides training for branch office employees.
- Generates new loan business, services existing loans and grows the loan portfolio of assigned office. Works with complex loans and loan participation packages; Assists prospective and current borrowers with their credit needs and with formulating solutions to credit related issues; Makes and services loans within delegated authority and in accordance with association policies; Makes and/or conveys decisions on loan approval, structure and pricing.
- Responsible for exercising credit risk management responsibilities on loans within area of responsibility; Conducts complex credit analyses. Analyze balance sheets, income statements, and cash flows of potential borrowers to ascertain creditworthiness. Maintains current, adequate and verified financial information on borrowers and guarantors as required by association policy.
- Determines the eligibility and scope of financing for all new loans and ensures verification of assets and liabilities. Secures background and credit history on new loans, repeat loans and renewals. Provides for evaluation of loan collateral in accordance with association policies and procedures. Ensures proper lien perfection on all collateral.
- Reviews assigned loan portfolio to determine proper loan classifications and makes recommendations to management on classification actions as required. Performs due diligence monitoring and reporting of overall loan portfolio conditions;
- Performs loan servicing tasks, which may include partial releases, subordination’s to mineral leases and right of ways, division orders, re‐amortizations, assumptions, severance agreements, and insurance claims.
- Maintains awareness of agricultural trends and business activity, FCA regulations, and legal obligations. Ensures branch office operations comply with applicable policies, regulations and laws. Prepares reports required by association management, the Board of Directors and regulatory bodies.
- Performs collections and management of association’s acquired property as required. Works with delinquent borrowers to obtain satisfactory loan performance.
- Represents the association at local community activities. Promotes the association by maintaining good
public and member relations.
- Coordinates the implementation of advertising and marketing programs.
Working Relationships
Frequent interaction with customers, Association departmental staff, and management. Occasional interaction with Association senior management, CEO, and/or board of directors. Occasional interaction with Farm Credit Bank of Texas staff. Frequent interaction with area professionals including real estate agents, commercial bankers, and others who deal with the Association in the normal course of business.
